Today's Plymouth City Council Cabinet meeting saw both the Child Poverty Action Plan and the Cost of Living Taskforce on the agenda and it was my job to speak to both items.
I am really pleased that the draft 2022-2025 Child Poverty Action Plan was approved by Cabinet.
We are really proud of our cross-party Child Poverty Cabinet Advisory Group and the work of members of the group to bring this latest plan forward. By keeping this focus on child poverty across the city, we are able to monitor how council policies across the board are working to break the cycle of poverty and work across to the city to see the best outcomes for families, children and young people.
One of the reasons I'm in politics is to work to break the cycle of poverty - to see this three year action plan given that focus too feels significant.
