Welcome news for Derriford Hospital this week.
The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Steve Barclay MP, made a statement about the progress on our commitment to deliver 40 new hospitals by 2030.
Derriford Hospital is one of the 40 and the work to rebuild the Urgent and Emergency Care centre is progressing ready for delivery by 2025 as a result of this pledge.
This week, £180.1 million was confirmed for the plans to progress - it will be fully funded by government.
Huge thanks for Johnny Mercer MP for pushing this forward. And to the team at Derriford for their fantastic work on ensuring our local hospital is prepared for the future.
