Delighted to see that South Hill play park in Hooe, Plymstock has been repainted now the sun has finally come out! *
Last year, I met a lovely young Mum, Alice (and her then baby, now toddler!) at South Hill play park. Alice had contacted me to see if there was anything that could be done to improve the play area. Knowing a replacement park wasn't on the cards, I looked at the art of the possible and contacted Community Pay Back, part of the Probation Service, to see if they might be able to do a refurbishment as one of their community projects.
Fast forward 10 months and plans and sunny weather have finallly aligned and the park has been repainted! A new swing is also due to replace the missing one. I've asked if this can be something more suitable for younger children although am not the decision maker on this so can't guarantee!
Thank you to Alice for raising this and the Community Payback team and Plymouth City Council for enabling this to happen. Sounds like this could be the first of many parks to receive some TLC this way. With over 30 in the city, it could be a really good way to brighten up our local play areas!
* assuming the barriers will be removed very soon!
