Last Wednesday I delivered a speech on Devon rail services in Parliament, arguing for our region to gets its fair share. I set out the importance of completing the resilience works at Dawlish, funding a business plan for a Tavistock-Plymouth line, improving platform lengths and pressuring CrossCountry services to stop at Ivybridge.
The Southwest isn't just a tourist attraction; over 5 million call it home with enormous opportunities for growth. We're a resourceful bunch but without an adequate rail service into the Southwest our wings are clipped.
