Plymouth City Council is building its first new homes for decades with the Broadlands Garden development in Plymstock.
Rather than sell off a brownfield site to a developer, the Council have become the developer and will reinvest the money made by selling these homes into its Plan for Homes committed to delivering affordable homes in the city.
It also means the Council can set the standards on these eco-homes and show other house builders the sort of properties the city wants and needs. And, it’s a development of 10 new family homes for local people to buy.
As Cabinet Member for Homes I have supported this scheme and given the go-ahead for the next stage in the development. It was great to join Fred Benetton from local construction company, Classic Builders, who are building these homes recently to see their plans and the site all cleared ready for work to start.
