Back in January, I launched a survey to see what the appetite was for a bus service between Plymstock and Plympton. I often get people asking me about it so wanted to gain some evidence to share with the Council.
Thank you to everyone who completed the survey. It was really good to see what you would like to see put in place. There was roughly a 50/50 demand for services via Haye Road and Cot Hill and through Sherford to Chaddlewood with a few keen to see a service via Marsh Mills.
At the time, I also said that with the results, I would seek a meeting with the Cabinet Member for Transport on Plymouth City Council and also local bus company bosses.
These meetings have now taken place and I have been able to share your views and ask about their plans. We all agreed that there needs to be a service given both the new Crematorium and the new homes and business premises at Sherford. Whilst one won't be coming overnight, I am confident that our voices have been heard and we will see a bus service. The challenge at the moment is having enough passengers to make a service viable.
I worked for 3 years to get a zebra crossing on Furzehatt Road in Plymstock and will work for as long as it takes to get this bus route - preferably a circular route that will also include access to Saltram House. The fight continues!
