August continued to be a busy month for my team and I in supporting South West Devon constituents, with enquiries up a 1/3 on last month.
I continue to receive a high volume of correspondence from constituents who are angered by the Labour Government's decision to axe winter fuel allowance payments for all but those pensioners on the lowest incomes. I wrote to the Chancellor on the day that this decision was announced and disappointingly, I am yet to receive any response.
I am pleased to report that 65% of cases opened in August, were resolved and closed within the same month.
