On Tuesday I delivered a speech in Parliament on Devon’s chronic shortage of NHS dentists, with its waiting list now standing at 60,000.
Locally, progress is being made to retain dental students from Plymouth University here for their careers. As a MP, I attend regular meetings of the Council's cross-party Dental Task Force and am committed to widening access to dental care across South West Devon.
In my speech I called for honesty; highlighted how we train dentists and award NHS contracts as key challenges; and explained why my campaign to protect Derriford’s funding matter for dentistry.
