Yesterday and this morning have mostly been about the West Devon side of the constituency!
It was good to catch up with the Leader and CEO of West Devon Borough Council, before holding my first constituency surgery in Yelverton. A wide range of issues covered over the course of the day including housing, devolution, local government funding, coast paths, speeding at Lee Moor and veterans care. As always, really good to meet so many constituents and pick up issues on their behalf.
Then this morning I’ve spent a couple hours with Mat Cole on Greenwell Farm at Clearbrook. I’ve got to know Mat over the last year or so and it was good to get up to speed on how I can be lobbying government about farming payments for Dartmoor farmers in particular. It was good to see some more of the farm for myself too including a brand new Belted Galloway calf! Farmers like Mat do so much to protect the moors and provide food security and I’m committed to supporting them.
