It was my privilege to host the launch of the Plymouth Male Violence against Women and Girls Report to City Leaders today, as we called on them to do all they can to deliver on the recommendations.
We were delighted to be joined by Ministry of Justice UK Minister responsible for Violence against Women and Girls, Victoria Atkins who gave a really powerful keynote speech, and all three city MPs - Sir Gary Streeter, Johnny Mercer and Luke Pollard. It's great to know the Commission has their support.
Over the course of the afternoon, we heard from a range of speakers including women from Trevi and their CEO Hannah Shead, Plymouth City Council CEO Tracey Lee and Council Leader, Cllr Richard Bingley.
In particular we are calling on city businesses and organisations to:
1) Provide a named responsible person to champion and lead activity
2) Adopt the Violence Against Women and Girls Charter Mark Scheme when it launches
3) Not tolerate sexist or misogynistic language and behaviour
