It's English Tourism Week and I've used the opportunity to meet up with a local business just outside my Plymstock ward, into the South Hams - Bovisand Lodge Holiday Park.
This family-run holiday park has been a key local feature for decades and provides an idyllic spot to enjoy all that Plymouth and the South Hams has to offer.
However, when I chatted with manager, Candice Hart about what it's like running a business like this at the current time, the two big C's came up - the impact of both Covid and the cost of living are having a real impact on recruitment and ongoing supplier shortages and will have a big impact on this local business as well as many others as the tourist season ramps up.
Recognising the unique challenges faced by local hospitality and tourist businesses is really important and being able to raise these at every opportunity is something I will keep on doing.
