The last couple of weeks have involved several live sporting fixtures, although not always with the results we hoped for.
It was great to attend the Plymouth Albion v Birmingham Mosely match with Cattewater Harbour Commissioners last weekend. My work as a Councillor has involved close working with the Harbour Commission at various points in the last five years, especially supporting the community in Oreston and it was good to catch up with the local Plym Yacht Club team and local business leaders.
The following day, I had the privilege of attending Wembley to watch the Papa John's Final with Plymouth Argyle and Bolton. It turns out that the Conservative Party Chair, Greg Hands MP, is an avid Argyle fan so it was good to chat with him. Although the result wasn't what we had hoped for, it was great to spend the day with representatives from the Devon FA and Cornwall FA, as well as Argyle Community Trust who I have worked with through the Cost of Living Taskforce I've led over the last year.
Saturday saw another Argyle defeat but another great local event as I spent the afternoon with colleagues and friends from across the city, and also met club mascot Pilgrim Pete!
I may not get to many matches, but I do love live sports and am looking forward to getting to more matches next season.
