I recently toured Arla which boasts the biggest fresh milk plant in the UK and a dairy farm nearby as part of the Back British Farming NFU Food and Farming Fellowship Scheme.
The NFU scheme has been set up to promote British food production amongst new MPs. The Arla visit exposed me to the cutting edge of the British dairy sector. There are more than 7,000 dairy farms across the UK, many in Devon.
As the MP for South West Devon, I am committed to supporting our farmers. I regularly visit farms in the constituency to hear their needs and have opposed the Labour Government's disastrous family farm tax at every turn.
