Saving Derriford Hospital's New A&E
On 29th July 2024, Chancellor Rachel Reeves threw the future of Derriford Hospital's new Urgent and Emergency Care Facility into doubt with the announcement of the New Hospital Programme Review. Patients across South West Devon and the wider South West have been deeply concerned by this move, writing directly to Rebecca. In response, Rebecca has campaigned relentlessly for the Government to honour its manifesto commitment to invest in our A&E, launching a petition which continues to garner support from resident across Devon and Cornwall.
Supporting Dementia care
Rebecca was worried to learn that nearly two thirds of care workers have not received any dementia training. The diagnosis rate in South West Devon is 54.7%, meaning almost half of the constituents have dementia and living undiagnosed. She support's the Alzheimer's Society campaign to mandate dementia training for the adult social care workforce.
